Lauren Rolfe

Lauren (she/her) joined Disability Rights Washington in 2026 after working for the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Florida’s Capital Habeas Unit (CHU). While at the CHU, Lauren represented death-sentenced clients in Florida with intellectual and developmental disabilities and a variety of mental health disorders in state postconviction and federal habeas corpus proceedings. Lauren graduated from the Florida State University College of Law in 2022. During law school, Lauren interned with the Promise of Justice Initiative, and volunteered with the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel where she gained exposure to movement lawyering and trial level defense advocacy. Lauren also served as the President and Social Justice Chair of the FSU Chapter of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA). Her service in BLSA included organizing a Racial Justice Panel Series which featured prominent speakers discussing how race intersects with the law; organizing efforts to change the name of the law school; and advocating for diversity in staff, student body, and curriculum. Lauren was a member of the Moot Court team, where she received the Top Oralist award at the UC Davis School of Law Asylum and Refugee Law National Moot Court competition in 2022. Prior to attending law school, Lauren graduated from Hofstra University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Criminology. She has two cats, Bean and Tate, and enjoys yoga and portrait painting.
